Wrestle with Love V-Day Adult Costume Ideas
This event is a little bit like Halloween… in February. Which means it’s time to get creative!
You can dress up any way you like—as long as you’re comfortable and feeling good. Costumes are welcome, 80s, 90s, 2000’s, THE FUTURE– all character looks are encouraged, and everyday outfits with a twist work just as well.
If you’re building a new outfit or riffing off a character, here’s some tips:
Start with one key item, then build your world around it. That might be a fun jacket, mask, boots, an award, belt, everyday item, or a bold makeup look.
Create a color palette and let that guide everything your outfit and prop choices. I personally, like up to 2 key colors to make it easy.
Take the thing you love, or hate and use that as fuel to create your “character” or look. Such as, love cleaning? You’re now the pink plastic glove crazy person who hates messes- bring a bottle of cleaner, pink dish soap, a mop and your best day cleaning clothes.
You already have a character in mind, let’s say you’re legendary Jake The Snake Roberts, cool, grab a stuffed or rubber snake, sport a mullet, shirt/pants and an attitude. Here’s an article with retro guy 80s looks, and one for the ladies.
On a budget? Go thrifting, and start picking out wild ideas on the cheap. St Vincent De Pauls, Value Village, or Goodwill Bins. And always ask your friends or family if they have anything they can share!
There’s no wrong way to show up—just come as you, turned up a notch. AND you don’t have to be shirtless and wear tight clothes if that isn’t comfortable, you can always go V-Day inspired. <3
